Déjà-rêvé questionnaire

Please read these instructions carefully:

Thank you for your interest in this online questionnaire for a research project entitled "An exploratory study of the phenomenology of “déjà-rêvé” in epileptic patients and healthy subjects". This project was approved by the Research Ethics Committee (REC) of the University of Toulouse under the number 2024_810  on  20/3/2024

Research Location: The Brain and Cognition Research Center (Cerco-CNRS) (Pavillon Baudot, CHU Purpan, 31059 Toulouse)

Purpose of the research project:

This research focuses on transient subjective phenomena corresponding to an experience of “déjà-rêvé”. You have probably experienced déjà vu but here, we are interested in a different phenomenon. The sensation of “déjà-rêvé” involves the sudden and unexpected reminiscence of a dream, recalling or reliving a dream while awake. Such an experience may involve remembering an entire dream or simply recalling fragments of it (complete memory or fragments related to multiple dreams). This phenomenon is rarely described in scientific literature. Its definition requires refinement, and a better understanding of the phenomenology would provide an additional clue to understanding memory and its dysfunctions. We have already studied this phenomenon in some epileptic patients and published scientific data. However, like déjà vu, which occurs in the general population (with or without neurological disease), we would like to study “déjà-rêvé” in a broad population (anyone from the general population) to gain a better understand of it.

Methodology: The procedure involves completing this questionnaire, which will take approximately 20 minutes. We encourage you to fill it out in a quiet place, where you can concentrate without interruption. Remember that your initial response or any instinctive response is probably the most appropriate.

ATTENTION: Once you start the questionnaire, you won't be able to go back to previous questions. Your answers will be taken into account only if you answer everything at once (without pausing). Incomplete data will be deleted.

Your right to withdraw from the research at any time:

Your participation in this research project is entirely voluntary, and you are free to withdraw at any time without having to justify your decision or suffer any prejudice. You can withdraw from the study at any time during the questionnaire by stopping on any page. However, once you reach the end of the questionnaire, all anonymous responses will be recorded, and you will no longer have the option to withdraw your responses.

Your rights to confidentiality and privacy:

Your responses are automatically anonymized and confidential. We do not collect information such as your name, email address, or IP address. Only the answers in the questionnaire are recorded. In addition, statistical analyses will be conducted on group data. Answers are anonymous.

Your right to ask questions at any time:

If you have any questions about the research study, we will be happy to answer them. Please contact us via email at jonathan.curot@cnrs.fr (or by phone at 05 61 77 71 29).

On behalf of the team, Dr. Jonathan Curot & Siwar Bouden (PhD. student in Neuroscience)
